KMFDM Road Trip - Including Watts, OK; Turpentine Creek, Springfield, MO; Kansas City, MO; & Chanute, KS
PART 1 | PART 2 | PART 3 | PART 4 | PART 5

Springfield, MO
Well, first things first, we go to the club to buy tickets, since they weren't available online. The club's not open. So we try some of the music stores that are listed as selling tickets. I drop Daniel off and circle the block as he goes to investigate. He comes out much too quickly and tells me that supposedly the concert has been cancelled because "the main guy is sick". So we go on to the hotel and check in, then drive around Springfield, depressed, looking for a place to eat...

We settle on a chinese buffet that also serves Mongolian Barbecue. The statue at the left greeted us. Unfortunately, we went straight to the buffet and didn't notice a little place where you could gather up some raw meats & veggies and have them grill it up for you. Regardless, it was a good dinner.

Afterwards, it was about 8 so we stopped back by the club, just in case any of the band members were going to stop by and offer us their personal apologies for canceling. Didn't happen. But we did run into some guys from another band who were going to be giving a free show later that night and they gave us some free CDs. We put one in for about 20 seconds and then went back to KMFDM.

So we drove around for about an hour, trying to find a movie theatre or arcade or something to do. We made note of the Crazy Horse, the local strip club, thinking we might stop by there later in the evening to see if Andy Selway was there. We eventually stopped for gas, and asked the attendant where a movie theater was and he sent us on our way. We went in about 9 and got tickets for a 9:50 showing of Saw. They had a Claw. We tried that, but we failed. Springfield was against us.

Daniel had a blue sugar filled icy and I went to the bathroom where I was disturbed to see a little girl come out of the stall w/ an empty bucket of popcorn, not wash her hands, then go to the concession stand to get a popcorn refill. Ewww...

Saw was really good, and it had our keychain flashlights in it! All cool things are interconnected.

Went home and went to bed. Damn you Springfield.

The next morning we had a late breakfast at Village Inn, where I won my first Andy!
then it was on to Fantastic Caverns

All of my pictures turned out a little blurry, but it was pretty cool inside.

I think this was a picture of the names of the women explorers who first explored the cave, but it kind of looks like an upside down goblin head.

The wheel on our ride-a-long kept making little squeaks like an owl, which Daniel then mimicked, just to confuse me.

On the way to Kansas City, Daniel saw this sign, which he liked.
